Moses Lake 5th Ward High Adventure 2019
July 17-20, 2019
Rhett, Aldrich, and Darce all attended this year's high adventure with the Moses Lake 5th Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It was four days packed full of fun and adventure white water rafting the White Salmon River, Hiking the Mount Saint Helens Ape Cave Lava Tubes, and hiking Mount Adams.
Youth: Aldrich and Darce Hoffmeister, Landon Noble, Collin Beck, Drake Waites, Kai and Avery Passey
Leaders: Allen Noble, Skyler Eveland, Rhett Hoffmeister, and Bishop Garth Kofed.
White water rafting on the White Salmon River was the beginning of the 4 day adventure. The river sports many class 4 and class 5 rapids. In addition, there was cliff jumping off a 25 foot drop. Darce and Kai (one of the other boys) were too young to ride over the class 5 waterfall, so Aldrich choose to walk around with them. Because they didn't get to ride over the falls, the guides let the three of them "Bull-Ride and Rattlesnake", which meant they got to ride on the front of the boat over the class 4 waterfall giving them the same experience the others had over the larger rapids.
Back Row: Landon, Colin, Avery, Skyler, Allen, Garth, Rhett, and Drake
Middle Row: Kai, Darce, and Aldrich

Class 5 Waterfall
Rhett went over the class 5 waterfall. He's sitting in the front on the right next to Allen Noble. Rhett said this was extremely exhilarating.
Life is where the river flows!-- White Salmon River --
The second day of the high adventure started out with a hearty breakfast, complete with rain. Then, the boys/men hiked the Mount Saint Helens Ape Caves. Our family hiked this cave in August 2015, so this was an easy hike for the boys because they knew what to expect.
Mount St. Helens Ape Cave Lava Tube is a popular attraction in the Mount St. Helens National Monument and the longest lava tube in the continental United States at over two miles in length.
Day 3 and 4
The third and fourth day of the hike the group hiked Mount Adams.
Pacific Crest Trail
The group had the fortune of setting up camp for the night at the base of this pretty waterfall.
