About Emmaline

Although I have a plethora of pursuits and amusements which I hope you will discover by browsing around my website, my most widely known pursuit has been that of my love for all things Jane Austen; especially Pride and Prejudice. As a result, I wrote my first fan-fiction novel in 2007 (published in 2009) and as of 2018 when I stopped publishing, I had completed a total of 17 books. I imagine my novels are what most people have come here for; so without further adieu here are my stories for your reading pleasure.

If you are here because of something other than my books I welcome you with all my heart. I have a sidebar menu full of goodies I am sure you will enjoy as much as I do.

“From an early age I have always been fascinated by the written word and the mood and atmosphere it creates for a reader; especially those books that affect me and transport me to some far-off place. These are the elements I strive to create in my books. My books in many ways record what most affects me: my feelings and experiences with family, friends, and those I have run into on my life’s journey. My hope is that in my books you will find something that touches you, something which will resonate in your soul and remind you that you are strong and can overcome anything, especially if you have the support of loving friends and family.” - Emmaline Hoffmeister

Emmaline Hoffmeister was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, but spent 9 years traveling as much as possible with her husband and two sons so she didn’t have to deal with the cold. In 2020, she returned to the Wenatchee Valley in Central Washington where she now tolerates the frigidly cold winters by curling up in front of the fire with her laptop and soft yellow blanket. When writer’s block sets in she stares at the rainbows covering her walls from the crystals hanging in her windows.

Emmaline is the wife of her very own Mr. Darcy and mother to two amazing sons. Emmaline centers her life around her family and her faith which brings her joy each and every day of her life.

Extra Stuff

A wonderful serenity has taken possession of my entire soul, like these sweet crisp mornings which I enjoy with my whole heart. I am never alone, and feel the charm of existence in my little spot of the great state of Washington, which was created for the bliss of souls like mine.

While the lovely orchards teem with spring blossoms around me, and the meridian sun strikes the upper surface of the impenetrable foliage of the endless orchard trees, and but a few random rainbows are created by the glorious prism hanging in my window that I need exert no more effort than to open the blinds and enjoy. I sit myself down near the sliding glass door and I listen to the wind rustle the fresh air just beyond my balcony.

I am so happy, so absorbed in the exquisite sense of a mere tranquil existence, and the extreme love of my family that makes me almost foolish. I should be incapable of explaining my ardent love at the present moment; however, I have the exquisite work of Jane Austen to draw upon. Thus, in her words …

"I must learn to be content with being happier than I deserve." ― Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice

“I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book! -- When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.”
― Caroline Bingley, Pride and Prejudice

(Note: This is not satire on my part, I truly love books and WILL BE QUITE MISERABLE without a grand library in my forever home.)

Rhett, my own Mr. Darcy, and I were married in 1998 and since then we have spent 23+ years loving and living life. The quote above, from Pride and Prejudice, is one of my favorites and aptly applies to my life. Here are the reasons I am so happy.

  • Wife to 1 handsome, loving, and hard-working man.

  • Mother, raising 2 independent sons.

  • Mother, loving 5 heavenly angels.

  • Christian, I believe in my Lord, Savior, Redeemer, and Messiah--Jesus Christ.

  • Devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Here's a few other things that matter a little less, but are still exciting--at least to me.

  • I've visited 28 LDS Temples, so far.

  • I've visited/lived/worked in 38 states, Canada, Caribbean, Puerto Rico, and Costa Rica so far.

  • Author of 17 novels/novellas, 12 of which were classified as bestsellers.

  • Government Accountant/Auditor/Fraud Investigator/Performance Auditor for 12 years.

  • Citizen journalist since 2010.

  • Pharmacy technician for 6 years.

I love knowing true and quirky things about my favorite authors. What about you?

Books are just one of the things I love. Here's my list of top 10 favorites if you care to read them.

  1. Rhett Hoffmeister, my husband and the love of my life.

  2. Aldrich and Darce Hoffmeister, my earthly sons and my 5 heavenly angels (4 sons and 1 daughter) who departed life before they were born.

  3. Natural foods, natural medicine, and natural healing.

  4. Books ... reading books ... writing books ... collecting books ... books in general! At one time in my life I owned over 4,000 books, but then we started traveling and I gave/sold/donated the majority of them because I could not take them with me. I am beginning to collect them again.

  5. Everything Pride and Prejudice--including a few rare adaptations printed before adaptations/variations/altered viewpoints became en-vogue. I kept those when I purged the others.

  6. Traveling ... anywhere and everywhere. By car, by boat, by airplane, by train, by foot, anyway I can get there.

  7. Crocheting/Knitting

  8. Sewing/Quilting

  9. Cooking healthy meals for my family.

  10. My YouTube Vlogging adventures with my best friend Marie Overton, a textile designer at OvertonFancies.

Everyone has a few quirks, here are a couple of things that make me a little quirky.

  • I like things to be symmetrical.

  • I prefer grey-based paint over yellow-based paint and the lighter the shade the better. Think barely tinted whites. This is funny because my favorite color is Yellow.

  • My dream car is a Mercedes Benz G-Wagon.

  • After only 2 years I chose to move away from Western Washington because the grey skies and rain were too depressing ... yet, an overcast grey sky with clouds that rest upon the top of my mountains straight across the valley from my home is not depressing at all.
